About Taco

Taco is a long haired, pedigree, male Chihuahua, however he is not KC registered. His hair is showing signs of growth on his chest/tail/legs, however it can take up to 2 years before their full adult coat is in. He is sweetly natured, a very loving, friendly and cuddly dog. Constantly following us around the house, Taco loves attention and gets very excited when friends come round. He is well socialised and enjoys a daily walk.

Small dogs are usually perceived as yappy and loud, Taco definitely breaks the mould in this department. He rarely barks and has proved to be well behaved even in the hardest situations; vet visits, travelling in public transport, meeting other animals. This Chihuahua is a fast learner and very intelligent, which can often be used to his advantage. His devious, mischievous streak is often revealed when steeling our food in a crafty fashion. He has definitely mastered the art of being sneaky! But who can stay mad at something so beautiful?

Chihuahua Information

The smallest of all dog breeds, the Chihuahua was named after the state in Mexico, where it was first discovered in 1850.
They are a unique looking dog, with big eyes and ears, a pretty face and dainty body. There are two varieties of coats: long haired and smooth coats. The term smooth-coat does not mean that the hair is necessarily smooth, as the hair can range from having a velvet touch to a whiskery feeling. Long-haired Chihuahuas are actually smoother to the touch, having soft, fine guard hairs and a downy undercoat, which gives them their fluffy appearance. Unlike many long-haired breeds, long-haired Chihuahuas require no trimming and minimal grooming. Contrary to popular belief, they also typically shed less than their short-haired counterparts. It may take up to two or more years before a full long-haired coat develops.

They are known for their affectionate, lively and devoted personalities. This is a dog that loves to be with their owner, they will follow you around the house and enjoy giving and receiving lots of attention. It is often found for Chihuahuas to get overly attached to one or two people; this can result in a jealous streak and can be avoided by socialisation.

Due to their small size and intelligent nature, Chihuahuas are adaptable for a variety of environments, including city and apartment living. Overall they make great companions, playful and animated, but at the end of the day will appreciate nothing more than to cuddle up on your lap.
